Glint · Privacy Policy

Glint collects nothing.

No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no servers. The app contains no networking code at all. Everything below is detail on that one fact.

What the app does

Glint transfers files between two devices optically. One device shows an animated code on its screen; the other reads it with its camera. There is no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular or internet connection involved at any point.

Because of this, your files never pass through a server, a network, or any system operated by us. They go from one screen to one camera.

Permissions

Camera

Used only to read the animated code from the other device's screen. Video is processed on your device as it arrives and is never recorded, stored or transmitted.

Photos

Requested only when you choose a photo to send, or ask to save one you've received. The app has no access to your library otherwise.

What is stored on your device

Received files are written to Glint's own folder on your device, where you can view, share or delete them through the Files app. They stay there until you remove them. Deleting the app removes them too.

The app also stores your settings — such as your chosen code density — on the device. Nothing else is kept.

Encryption

Transfers can optionally be protected with a code you choose. The file and its details are encrypted on your device using AES-256 before being displayed, and decrypted only on the receiving device. The code itself is never shown on screen, never stored, and never leaves your device — you share it with the other person yourself.

We cannot recover a protected file if the code is lost, because we never have either.

Children

Glint is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Third parties

Glint includes no advertising, no analytics frameworks, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is gathered in the first place.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
